Holy Makkah Economic Impact & Future Prospects:
Today, Muslims were formed nearly a quarter of the world’s population, which is more than a billion and a half Muslims around the world.
Since thousands of years, Holy Makkah economy is basically based on serving Hajj and Umrah, the number of pilgrims were estimated as 3 million per year, and the number of Umrah was 6 million hajj in 2012 AD. Furthermore, 10 million visitors were visited Holy Makkah every year from the Kingdom and the citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The average of economic expenditure in the same period was estimated with an amount of 62 billion dollars per year for accommodation, transportation, food, marketing, and telecommunication services, in particular, the number of hotel rooms in Holy Makkah were 98,000 hotel rooms which represents 60% of the total number of hotel rooms in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The hotel rooms capacity after the expansion projects development for Jabal Omar, Jabal Alkhandama, and Jabal Alsharashif, will add 50,000 hotels during the coming years.
